ASANA Player Spotlight: Rey Rey (Atlanta, GA | Divas On Dirt)

Rey Rey, a cornerstone of Atlanta’s LGBTQ+ sports community, embodies the spirit of diversity and resilience that makes ASANA extraordinary. With her “no b.s., let’s play ball” mentality, she’s spent over a decade uplifting athletes—first with Chicago’s undefeated team, SLOANS, until 2010, before bringing her talents to Atlanta. Returning
to the field in 2019, she joined Hotlanta’s iPride league with Lady Primetime, then made her ASANA World Series debut in Virginia Beach (2021). Since then, she’s competed
with ASANA’s Divas On Dirt at the World Series in Washington D.C. (2022) and San Diego (2023), and she’ll be a force this year in Myrtle Beach, with her sights already set on 2025.
Though she never sought the spotlight, Rey Rey’s leadership radiates naturally as a
“Mama Bear”—mentoring newcomers, fostering inclusivity, and creating safe spaces
where athletes of all backgrounds thrive. Her unapologetic authenticity and grit have
shattered societal barriers, carving out room not just for women and women of color,
but anyone seeking belonging in sports. From organizing practices to leading by
example, Rey Rey ensures every player feels seen, valued, and empowered. Her
journey—from overcoming exclusion to building community—mirrors the collective
resilience of those she inspires. We proudly celebrate Rey Rey as a trailblazer who
turns adversity into opportunity, reminding us all that sports are stronger, louder, and
more vibrant when everyone has a place to shine.
